How to accept Venmo payments in Google Forms?

"process payments via Venmo. Customers fill out a google form and I respond"- Google Sites Community

Clubs and teams often take the sign-up on a Google Form and the dues on Venmo, and the two never meet. Google Forms can show your Venmo username as text, but it can't show what each member owes or ask them to pay. So you scroll through Venmo and tick off names against the responses. With Neartail, the payment happens in the form. Members see the total when they submit and scan a QR code with their phone to pay you on Venmo. They use the Venmo app they already have, so nobody types a card number.

Below are three ways to collect Venmo payments with a Google Form, and where each one falls short.

1. Put your Venmo username in the form

Add your Venmo username to the form's description, with a question for the amount they sent. The amount is whatever each member types, and you still go through Venmo to find the response each payment belongs to.

2. Link to Venmo after they submit

In Google Forms, click Settings, open Presentation and put the link to your Venmo profile in the Confirmation message. Members only see it after their sign-up is in, so paying is up to them, and the link doesn't carry the amount.

3. Take Venmo payments in the form with Neartail

Neartail adds a payment step to your Google Form. Members see what they owe when they click Submit, pay you on Venmo from a QR code and click Mark as Paid.
  • Click Create your form, then Enter your form name. Type a name and click Generate.
  • Check the outline it suggests and click Proceed. Your form opens on the Edit tab.
The tabs Edit, Preview, Share and Orders, with Edit marked
  • When it asks "Do you want to collect payment on form submit?", click Yes.

  • Venmo is listed only for forms in USD. If your form is in another currency, close the Payments panel, click the gear icon in the After payment row, the last row above the Submit button, select USD in Currency and click Save. Then click Edit in the Payments row.

  • Under Manual payments, turn on Venmo, enter your username and click Save.

Check the amount

The amount people pay is the form's Order Amount, which adds up the products each person picks. To charge one fee to everyone instead, read How to collect a fixed amount.
  • Click a product card to change its title or price. To remove a product you don't sell, click the delete icon at the bottom of its card.

  • Click Preview and submit the form to try it.
The tabs Edit, Preview, Share and Orders, with Preview marked
When a member clicks Submit, they see the Total Amount and a QR code. They scan it with their phone camera to pay you on Venmo and click Mark as Paid. If you turned on more than one way to pay, they choose one and click Proceed to payment first. To check each payment, read How to see who has paid in Google Forms?

Summary

Google Forms can't show what each person owes or ask them to pay, so Venmo payments end up matched to responses by hand. With Neartail, people see the total when they submit and pay you on Venmo by scanning a QR code. Create your form and complete the steps above. If you have any questions, write to support.
