"How do I show the summary of an order, organised in 4 columns"- Support forum
Before someone places an order, they want to check it: each product, its price, how many and what it comes to. A Google Form never shows that back. It records the choices and leaves the customer to trust their own sums, so mistakes surface after you've started on the order. Neartail's BILL function puts a bill on the review page of your Google Form, with the price, quantity and amount of each product and any fees under them. TEXTBILL records the same bill in the response, so you see exactly what the customer saw.
Create your order form and follow the steps below.
- On the page that opens, click Enter your form name, type your form's name and click Generate.
- Check the outline it suggests and click Proceed. Your form opens on the Edit tab.
Your form comes with products, an Order Amount question that adds up by itself and an Order Quantity question.
- Your form already has a Review and place order section that shows the bill. To change what it says, click on the section, then click the ⚙️ icon.
You can use the BILL function to show the list of products ordered by the users along with its price and amount. The syntax for the BILL function is:
BILL(currency, [entry###, entry###,…])
where
- currency - identifier to find the price in the description/answer choices. The currency can be a symbol or text, but it has to exactly match the format used in the description/answer choices.
- entry### - Entry #id of the fields such as amount, delivery fees etc to be included in the bill. You can type @ and select the required field to add the entry #ids in the formula. This is an optional parameter.
Note: The bill function returns a html. So it must be used in the description as a string literal. Any function that you write in the description must be written between ${ ... }
If the currency used in the form is $, then the summary formula would be ${BILL("$")}
If the currency used in the form is €, then the summary formula would be ${BILL("€")}
If the currency used in the form is ₹, then the summary formula would be ${BILL("₹")}
Similarly, you can write the summary formula for any currency.
- In Edit Page, the description already has the ${BILL()} formula as shown below. You can type your own words around it or write the currency in it, such as ${BILL("$")}. Use the currency symbol your prices have. Click Save
Your customers see each product they ordered with its price, quantity and amount, and can check it before they submit.
If you have Order Amount, Delivery Fee and Net Amount fields in your order form, the bill shows them under the products by itself.
- Click on the Order Quantity question, then click Add field in the toolbar on the right
- Enter Order summary as the new question's title and change the question type to Paragraph in its list
- Click the ⚙️ icon
You can use the TEXTBILL function to show the order summary. Unlike the BILL function, this returns the summary as text. The syntax for the TEXTBILL function is:
TEXTBILL(currency, [entry###, entry###,…])
where
- currency - identifier to find the price in the description/answer choices. The currency can be a symbol or text, but it has to exactly match the format used in the description/answer choices.
- entry### - Entry #id of the fields such as amount, delivery fees etc to be included in the bill. You can type @ and select the required field to add the entry #ids in the formula. This is an optional parameter.
If the currency used in the form is $, then the summary formula would be TEXTBILL("$")
If the currency used in the form is €, then the summary formula would be TEXTBILL("€")
If the currency used in the form is ₹, then the summary formula would be TEXTBILL("₹")
Similarly, you can write the summary formula for any currency.
- In Field settings, select the Answer tab. Write the TEXTBILL function in the Calculate option as shown below and click Save. Use the currency symbol your prices have
Your customers see the bill on the form, and it is saved with their order when they submit.
A Google Form doesn't show customers a bill before they submit. With Neartail, the BILL function shows each product's price, quantity and amount on the review page, and TEXTBILL saves the same bill with the order.
